Hygiene and Oral Health are Essential Part of Home Care
With great oral hygiene as part of your home care regimin, you can avoid common problems like gum disease and tooth decay. We recommend all patients brush for a minimum of two minutes, twice each day. To make brushing more effective, always:
- Use a soft bristled brush
- Angle your toothbrush toward the gumlines
- Make small strokes on only one or two teeth at a time
Brushing Isn’t Enough!
Brushing twice a day for two minutes will not remove plaque biofilm between your teeth. That’s why it’s important to floss at least once each day – to disrupt bacterial deposits that accumulate between your teeth.
At Allure Dental Center, our hygienists will show you oral hygiene aids that work well to clean around prosthesis like dental bridges and dental implants so that your dental work can last as long as possible.
Why Regular Teeth Cleanings are Important
Even if you thoroughly brush and floss each day, there’s a likelihood that there will be some tartar deposits left over after several months. For our patients with healthy teeth and gums, we typically recommend a cleaning and dental exam every 6 months.
